Hi, I am Shinichi Yamada, a Japanese person living in New Zealand.
After the Fukushima nuclear disaster in 2011, I came to know the danger of the nuclear facilities in Japan. Our petition about the nuclear crisis is being examined in the NZ government, but we need to hurry the action.
Ryo Tatsuki, a manga artist from Japan, warns of a massive tsunami in July in 2025. She is famous for her dream-based predictions such as the Tohoku earthquake in 2011. (The Economic Times [1]) It is a scientific fact that a big earthquake called Nankai Trough earthquake is going to occur soon in the south part of Japan. The Japanese government also predicts that 298,000 people are going to be killed by the earthquake. (Cabinet Office [2], NHK [3]) However, 12 nuclear reactors are still running in that region and each nuclear power plant stores several hundreds tons of spent nuclear fuel in the cooling pool without any protection. Especially the nuclear power plants in Ikata and in Hamaoka are going to be hit by the 20 meters tsunami, but
one reactor is still running in Ikata. If the Nankai Trough earthquake occurs tomorrow, the history of human beings will end at that time. We should start our preparation for the earthquake assuming that the prediction by Ryo Tatsuki is true. It would be the last chance to save the future of human beings.
There exist the following dangers in the nuclear facilities in Japan:
1. 19,000 tons of spent nuclear fuel
2. 12 active nuclear reactors
3. High-level radioactive waste in Tokai
4. Plutonium in Monju
We proposed the following solutions:
1. dry cask for the storage of the spent nuclear fuel, 2. sending the spent fuel to the safer cooling pools after stopping the 12 reactors, 3. Synroc for the High-level radioactive waste in Tokai, and 4. just moving the plutonium in Monju to a safer place.
It is not difficult to solve the problem technically. However, it takes some time to handle the massive amount of radioactive waste. We need to hurry the action.
Please report the nuclear issues in Japan and inform people of the current crisis,
send the information to the departments responsible for the analysis of the emergent issues,
escalate the information to the higher decision process,
and protest against the Japanese government for the present nuclear crisis and cooperate with it to solve the problem quickly.
Shinichi Yamada
